A NORWEGIAN man faces a heavy fine and a driving ban after police caught him having sex with his girlfriend while speeding on the motorway, police said on Monday.

The unnamed couple, a 28-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, were caught in the act late on Easter Sunday by traffic police on the E18 highway, some 40 kilometres west of Oslo.

Officers who clocked the couple's silver Mazda 323 racing at 133 kilometres per hour in a 100 zone realised they were doing more than just breaking the speed limit, police told AFP.

'It was veering from one side to the other because the woman was sitting on the man's lap while he was driving and doing the act, shall we say,' said Tor Stein Hagen, a superintendent with Soendre Buskerund district police.

'He couldn't see much because her back was in the way,' he added. 'Why they did it on a highway with such a high risk we don't know.'

After following the couple for nearly a kilometre, officers pulled the car over at a service station.

'We have taken away his driving licence because of the danger that he caused,' Supt Hagen said.

Prosecutors will decide within the next week what his punishment will be, with police having filmed the incident to use as evidence against the driver.

A student from the class, who did not want to be named, told The New Paper that the vice-principal was 'scolding' the class about their poor common test results.

She asked those who were confident of scoring at least five O levels or of making it to polytechnic to stand up.

All except two boys in the class stood up.

The student said: 'She then told the form teacher to take down their names and call their parents.'

She told the class to sit down and write down their plans for achieving their goals.

The form teacher walked over to one of the two boys who did not stand up.

She told him to take out a piece of paper and start writing.

It was then that the boy suddenly stood up and threw a file and subsequently a chair in the direction of the vice-principal.

This account was verified by another student in the class.

She said: 'She (the vice-principal) was trying to help us. She said that since it was our final year, she hoped everyone could get into poly.'

The New Paper understands that this was the first time the vice-principal visited the class this year.

When contacted, the school confirmed that the incident had taken place.

However, it did not answer queries on the details of what happened.

Principal confirms it

In a written response, the school principal said: 'Together with the form teacher, the vice-principal guided the class to take stock of their progress in their studies, and to plan how they would achieve their targets at the upcoming mid-year exams as well as the year-end O-level exams.

'During this time, a boy suddenly stood up and threw a file and a chair towards the front of the classroom. His classmates quickly restrained him. The discipline master and school counsellor were also brought in to calm and counsel the boy. No one was hurt in the incident.'

We are not naming the school or those involved, to avoid causing further distress to the boy, who is said to be upset about how he had behaved.

But what caused him to snap?

The New Paper understands that he had some emotional issues which, however, were under control this year.

According to the school, the boy has 'some background with handling emotions and has been referred for counselling'.

So could it have been the stress of the latest tests? Or the results he had just received? Or the manner in which he was being addressed at that point in time?

The student The New Paper spoke to said the boy later 'admitted to others that he didn't know what he was doing at that time'.

He added: 'But I don't think you can judge a person's character simply by whether they go to the polytechnic or junior college.'

'Boy apologised'

The principal said: 'The boy showed remorse and regret for his behaviour, and apologised to the class and the vice-principal. He also told the (form teacher) that he was grateful for the support from the school, his teachers and classmates in helping him move on.'

His parents are understood to be working with the school to provide the boy with the necessary care and guidance.

They declined to be interviewed by The New Paper.

A teacher of the school, who did not want to be named, felt the boy alone was not to blame for the incident.

He told The New Paper: 'As teachers, we don't approve of this act. We feel the boy should be punished for it.

'But if only the boy is punished, it's unfair. The vice-principal owes the student an apology because she jumped to conclusions.'

The boy is receiving counselling at the moment and it is understood that no punishment has been meted out yet.

She offered nude pictures for virtual pet gifts

IT SEEMS she is willing to exchange real-life nude pictures of herself for something that exists only in cyberspace - items for her online pet.

Is that all her modesty is worth?

The question doesn't seem to bother the Facebook user, who introduces herself as Ling Er, an 18-year-old Singaporean.

Her offer has drawn some flak, even from other netizens who are blase about such shenanigans.

As one of them put it, she may have taken games addiction and online barter to a new low.

The teenager set up a Facebook group last month to get netizens to give her virtual items for her character in the popular game Pet Society on the networking site.

Birthday suit

The name of her group: My birthday suit contest.

To date, some 133 users have signed up as members of the group.

The game, which can be played by Facebook members who download it, allows them to create and play with a virtual pet, buy it items, and pit its 'skills' against those of others.

The object of the game is to acquire as many points as possible.

These points allow players to acquire more virtual items for their pets' homes.

On her Facebook group, Ling Er has appealed to netizens to give her their most valuable Pet Society gifts possible.

She claimed that senders of the best five gifts would get a set of nude pictures of her in return.

They have to do so by 1May.

She has even listed those who have sent the most valuable gifts so far.

The teen wrote on the site: 'I will send you guys pics of me in my birthday suit that I was born with.'

Er, does she mean baby pics, perhaps? Who knows.

But since the group was set up, it has attracted more than 100 members, almost all of them men.

In an e-mail reply to The New Paper, Ling Er said she started playing Pet Society just over two weeks ago, and that she plays the game daily, but for less than an hour each time.

She declined to reveal her real name.

The teen said she had started the Facebook group 'just for fun'.

'Also, I like the thrill and I want more gifts (for my pet),' she added.

Asked if she sensed any danger in sending her nude pictures to total strangers, she replied: 'In this day and age, it is easier to find pictures of this nature online than news updates from around the world.'

And will they really be her own pictures? Well, all we know is that she has already put up some that are supposed to be preview pictures.

She claimed that other local women had taken and distributed nude pictures of themselves online with little consequence.

'They're still doing fine,' she insisted.

However, keeping or distributing obscene pictures is against the law.

Ling Er said she has received virtual gifts from more than 10 people in her group.

These include a virtual lamp, guitar and bath tub.

A member of the Facebook group, who declined to be named, said he had joined the group 'for fun'.

He said he had come across the link to the group from a friend's Facebook profile and decided to join on a whim.

'The name of the group sounded interesting, so I decided to have a look. I don't even play the game,' he said.

He added that he found it odd that anyone would offer nude pictures to strangers for virtual items.

'If the items were real, it would be understandable,' he said.

Student Kevin Chua, 16, who is an avid Pet Society player, added he was surprised when a friend told him about the group that had been set up.

He said: 'It's not something you see every day. I just hope she doesn't get into trouble doing this.'

He added that he knew of people who traded virtual items on Pet Society forums and groups on Facebook, but had never seen somebody offering such a deal before.

'It's quite shocking to see what people would do just to get items for an online game.'

Psychiatrists and counsellors that The New Paper spoke to raised their doubts as to whether the promise would be kept.

Gimmick

Said Mr Charles Lee, senior counsellor at Tanjong Pagar Family Service Centre: 'I think she is using sex as the attraction. We don't know if she will give the photos, it could just be a good gimmick.'

However, Mr Lee and Dr Brian Yeo, a consultant psychiatrist at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, said that the act only served to reflect her lack of modesty.

Said Mr Lee: 'Assuming that she really sends nude photos, it just shows her low self-esteem. How she does not care about her privacy? It shows that her relationship with this pet is ranked above her own privacy.'

Parents we spoke with also expressed their concern.

Mrs Magdalene Wong, 53, a mother of two, felt that it was worrying such things could be happening on the social networking site.

She said: 'It's quite shocking to know that it's being used in such a competitive way. Other people who see it might decide to do something that may be even worse.'

BERLIN, Germany (CNN) -- A polar bear attacked a woman at Berlin Zoo Friday afternoon after she climbed a fence and jumped into its habitat during feeding time, police said Saturday.

One adult polar bit her several times after she plunged into the moat, police said.

Zoo workers tossed rescue rings toward the woman to hoist her out and distract polar bears swimming nearby, said Goerg Gebhard, a Berlin police officer.

At one point the woman fell back into the water and was grabbed by a bear before she was eventually hoisted to safety.

"They saved her life," Gebhard told CNN.

The woman was severely injured and was being treated at a hospital, police said.

It's unclear why the woman entered the bear habitat, but police issued her a citation for trespassing.

Berlin Zoo is home to Knut, the first polar bear to be born there in over 30 years. The bear became a huge talking point in Germany when his mother gave birth to him in December 2006.

The second victim has died after eating at a rojak stall at the Geylang Serai temporary market.

According to a STOMPer, who alerted STOMP of the breaking news he came across online, Noraini Kassim, 59, died shortly before 10am today (April 8).

Noraini went into a coma and was fighting for her life at Alexandra Hospital, after eating Indian rojak from the stall. She was warded into the hospital on Saturday (April 5) for food poisoning.

Said the STOMPer:

"Just a few days ago, Aminah Samijo, the 57-year-old canteen assistant, died after eating at the same stall.

"Then a 38-year-old mother-to-be, Rosiah Samat, also suffered a miscarriage, apparently after eating from the stall."

Thailand: A young girl's pole dance raises eyebrows and brings warnings




A provocative dance may attract huge crowds almost anywhere, but a little pole dancer in Thailand has caused public outrage.

In video clips posted on many websites, a prepuberty girl waves her hips and moves sexually around a pole.

The background suggests she must have been at a big event or perhaps the motor show.

"Several viewers have complained that the use of a young girl for such a dance is totally inappropriate," Culture Watch Centre director Ladda Tangsupachai said yesterday. "The girl seems to be just about 10 years old."
She said her centre would try to find out where the little pole dancer had performed.

"Our officials will check whether the video clips were filmed at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (Bitec)," Ladda said.

Open to the public since March 26, the 30th Bangkok International Motor Show is on till April 6 at Bitec.

Motor show denial

However, the committee organising the motor show yesterday firmly rejected any suggestion that the child pole dancer was at its event.

"We have a strict rule that all dancers on stage must be over 18 years old," Jaturont Komolmis said in his capacity as the organising committee's deputy chair.

He said the rule carried penalties in the form of a six-figure fine and a ban from the motor show.

"The motor show involves a very big business. We are not going to do anything that will ruin our image," Jaturont said.

According to him, up to 10 plainclothes policemen and seven staff members are patrolling the motor show's venue each day to ensure that there are no inappropriate things going on.

On March 29, police also arrested a group of scantily clad girls for dancing around and posing for video cameras.

"These girls are not part of our motor show. Their clothes are much more revealing than those who really work here," Jaturont said.

He suspected that someone might have tried to damage the Bangkok International Motor Show's reputation by claiming that a very young girl performed a pole dance there.

Ladda said her centre would also dispatch its officials to big events including the annual Thai Red Cross fair and OTOP fairs.

"If we find anything inappropriate, we will issue warnings," Ladda said.

She planned to ask Royal Thai Police's Children, Juveniles and Women Division and the Human Security and Social Development Ministry to take action.

"The ministry is armed with laws that can protect the children including any girl that might have been exploited," Ladda said.

Journalists hoping to interview Hillary Clinton on the G20 summit were surprised when the number they were given turned out to be a phone sex line.



The White House accidentally listed a sex line number for journalists seeking an "on-the-record briefing call with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and National Security Advisor Jim Jones", reports Fox News.

Journalists who dialled the number heard a soft-voiced female recording, that was clearly not Clinton, asking for a credit card number if you "feel like getting nasty".

After several efforts to make sure that the phone number was correctly dialled, a call to the White House resulted in a corrected press release.

"If you are having trouble dialling into the call, please try this number as an alternative," it said, and listed the international line included for reporters abroad to dial.

By this time, the conference call was already under way.

Asked for comment, Deputy White House Press Secretary Bill Burton responded: "A corrected phone number on a press release is probably one of the stupider things Fox News has covered lately."

Germans get first nudist-only hotel

The first nudist-only hotel is set to open in Germany's Black Forest.

Guests will be required to leave their clothes at reception and must be naked at all times when on the premises – "or they will be required to leave".

"We hope to open as soon as possible," Silvia Probsthain, a member of staff at the planned Hotel Rosengarten.

"It will be the first comprehensively nudist hotel in Germany."

The rules state that all guests must put towels on chairs and loungers before using them, that there be no sexual harassment and that all sexual activity in "commonly accessible rooms" is strictly forbidden.

The hotel is being built in Freudenstadt, which translates into "Town of Joys". Freudenstadt's tourism director Michael Krause said: "I'm in two minds. It's always good if a new hotel is set up but I'd prefer a normal hotel concept."

Nude hiking is proving increasingly popular in Germany and two villages in the central Harz mountain range plan to mark special forest hiking routes for naked ramblers.

The practice is frowned on in neighbouring Switzerland, however, where authorities plan to fine such behaviour.

There are similar hotels catering for nudists in Scandinavia, Croatia and the south of France.
